I’m Looking Over, a Clipped-Gable Dover, That I Overlooked Before…

It makes me a bit sad that Photobucket has eaten all of my images (5,000+) and I can only hope that they’ll return one day, but in the meantime, here’s one of my favorite Sears Homes, The Dover. The image below is a house in Alton, Illinois and it was one of the very first Sears Homes that I found, more than 20 years ago.

Enjoy the images (sans photobucket) and please leave a comment!

The Dover, as seen in the 1936 catalog.

Good-looking house!

A beautiful example of the Sears Dover, in Alton, IL.

As it appears today (January 16, 2020).

I think I purchased a Van Page model in NJ, would you be able to tell with pictures?

Love the witty title of this post…now I can’t get the song out of my head!

I’ve always been a sucker for 1 and a half story houses. I like the layout of the Dover and could totally imagine living in one. Plus, the first (and so far only) Sears home I’ve found on my own is a Dover, so I love it extra!

So good to see you finding homes again!

I think you started the ball rolling on the new kit homes theme song! Now you just need a TV series to go along with it!

The Future Homemakers of America in our high school had a parody that went:

    I’m looking over
    My dead dog Rover
    That I overran
    With the mower.

    I’ll leave it there.
