Identifying Sears Homes would be a lot easier if they retained their original appearance. Unfortunately, most of these homes are 80 and 90 years old, and have endured countless generations of substitute siding salesmen, bad weather, the occasional fire, economical rehabs, expensive rehabs and other unfortunate events.
Below is a picture of a Sears Home (#106) that I purchased on Ebay. I paid $3 for this photo, which was a swinging deal for me. However, I’m sure that only three people in America would have known that this was a picture of a newly built Sears Home. (That’d be me, Rebecca Hunter and Dale Wolicki.) It’s since become a cherished photograph and I’m sure this little family was tickled pink to have their little kit home finished.
If you know where this house is, or if you know the people pictured herein, please drop me a line? The photograph was sent to me from an ebay seller in Ohio, so it’s possible that this is where the photo came from.
